Snug as a Bug fun!

This last week has been so exciting on the fabric front!!  Early last week I received my advanced yardage of “Snug as a Bug” from Riley Blake and it was so crazy exciting to see it in the flesh!

The colours were even more beautiful that I could have imagined!  I have sent some off to my fellow designers and cannot wait to see what they will do with it – totally exciting!

Another exciting thing that was a part of my advance yardage was my advance panels for “Little Lola Ladybug”!

This is how the panels will look when you purchase them, including the pattern pieces and all of of the instructions.  I was a little nervous as I decided yesterday that it was time to give these panels a bit of a test run, but there was certainly no need as the end results just made me so crazy happy!

Here is Red Lola

Red Lola

Blue Lola

Blue Lola

And Orange Lola

Yellow Lola

And of course they love to hang about together in a group – how crazy cute are they?!?

And when you are finished with making your Lola Ladybug, make sure you don’t throw out the rest of the panel.  Can you see this cute line of Ladybugs??

I think they would be prefect as a strip in some piecing, or how cute are they used on self covered buttons – FUN!!!

Self Cover Button

I think the fabric and panels are still a few weeks away but I will be sure to let you know when they have arrived!

For those of you who have asked, I will not be selling yardage of the fabrics in my shop, but will have a number of pre-cuts and will also have the panels for sale. Yardage will be available from a large range of shops so check with your favourite local quilt shop :)

I know I am holding my breath waiting, hope you are too!

  1. Oh how gorgeous Melly! I really love the vibrancy of your prints. I think I’ll need a fat quarter pack at least!

  2. oooooh Melly these are so lovely where and when can I buy, I really need some of these, don’t just want them I need them ha ha

    • Hopefully soon Dianne!! I think a few weeks until they hit Australia and then they will be available from a number of stores across AU. I cant wait!!

  3. I will definitely need at least a fat quarter of each of your gorgeous fabrics & at least one of each of the panels. With four granddaughters the one that doesn’t get a a Lola will have to make do with a Little Ladybug Bag from your new Snug as a Bug book which I have almost read the print off since it arrived in the post last week! Luv it all : )

    • Oh yay Deb!! Glad you love the book and hope you will love the fabrics JUST as much when they arrive – Yay!!

  4. Your ladybugs look so cute ! Will there be a pdf pattern too ? Or will I be able to buy the panels in Germany ?

    • Hi there Marion. Unfortunately I think it will be hard to make this a PDF pattern as part of the appeal of the ladybug is the cute printed face. I may sell physical patterns that have the printed faces enclosed for use. :)

  5. Just purchased all three (twice) over at Hathorne Threads. So freaking cute! As I’m new to this, however, how do you make the ladybug buttons? :)

    • Hi there and yay!!! I hope you will adore the fabrics!!! I simply used a self covering button to make the ladybug buttons, they are usually available at most sewing supply places and each pack contains the instructions on how to cover that particular brand :)
